COMMUNITY MEETING WEDNESDAY 8 OCTOBER 7-9PM ST MARY’S PARISH CENTRE, BAIRNSDALE

GET THE FACTS – NOT THE HYPE

We are holding our first community meeting since the devastating news that Resources Victoria had ignored Minister Wynne’s damning assessment of the Fingerboards mine and renewed GCM/Kalbar/REZir’s licence over the area in October 2024.

Since then Gippsland Critical Minerals (GCM formerly Kalbar Operations Ltd) has spent a lot of money on marketing and advertising (and even hired a lobbyist) to promote their ‘rescoped’ proposal.

However, they continue to refuse to hold a community meeting about the project. (So much for improved community engagement!)

So MFG is holding a Community Information Night on Wednesday October 8th to share what we know about things to date and to help you separate fact from fantasy.

We’ve an impressive list of speakers on such things as cultural heritage, biodiversity, water, and economics. We hope to see you there.

  1. I’d be interested in attending this meeting, however I live an hour’s drive from Bairnsdale and avoid driving at night. I’m wondering whether it would be feasible to live-stream the meeting so that more folk could attend? Thank you MFG for your continued commitment and dedication to protecting East Gippsland’s people, environment and livelihood.
