Post hearing documents 02/08/21: Includes Planning Scheme Amendment, Mitigation Register and Environment Management Framework

Kalbar continuing to push for an expanded application area that has not been the subject of any studies. They are pushing for compulsory acquisition of land for ‘easements’ for their ‘infrastructure’ and if their amendment to the planning scheme is accepted, (Document 780) will do their damnedest to screw over the local landholders and get away with ridiculously inadequate – and not guaranteed – biodiversity offsets. The supposed mitigation register (775-776) is highly flawed with many of the ‘mitigations’ laughable and others just downright insulting. One thing’s for sure – people living near the mine will suffer enormously from the noise, dust and destruction of a much-loved landscape, and it is a matter of time before the horticulture industry and anyone who relies on a clean river or unpolluted groundwater starts to feel the impacts.

The mining area is absolutely massive – it has grown by 28% since the Panel Hearing started

While the existing EES reports are substandard (as evidenced by dozens of well-qualified people during the hearings), they are completely non-existent for the extended mining area.
